
Beth yw'r Urdd? What is the Urdd?
The Urdd is an exciting, dynamic movement for children and young people. It organises a range of different activities across Wales. We have 16 development officers who work all over Wales to ensure that the Urdd offers a full programme of activties for children and young people.
The Urdd was established in 1922 to give children and young people the chance to learn and socialise through the medium of Welsh.It gives the young people of Wales the chance to live vibrant lives through the medium of Welsh, learning at the same time to respect each other and people around the world.The Urdd welcomes Welsh speakers and Welsh learners.Who are the Urdd members?
- 50,000 children and young people are members of the Urdd.
- One in every three of every Welsh speaker between the ages of 8 and 18 are members of the Urdd.
- 30% of all members say that they have learnt Welsh.
- Over 3,000 members are between 16 and 25 years of age.
- Famous faces that are previous Urdd members are Huw Edwards, the news reader, Bryn Terfel the world famous singer, and Glyn Wise from the Big Brother series!
- The Urdd has 10,000 volunteers who are active in 900 branches over the country.

- A dedicated team of staff look after 300 local branches.
- Holidays, weekly clubs, competitions and trips to stay at the Urdd residential centres are organised.

On the playing field...
- Rugby, swimming, football, gymnastics, athletics ... the list is never ending!
- A chance to compete against children and young people from all across Wales.
- Weekly clubs and sports courses.
On the Eisteddfod stage...
- The Eisteddfod is Europe’s largest arts youth festival.
- Singing, dancing, acting, performing, art and design, and poetry competitions.
- 15,000 compete at the National Urdd Eisteddfod each year.
In the magazines...
- What about reading the interesting stories or winning some prizes in the competitions in Cip, iaw! or Bore Da?
- There are magazines for Welsh learners and fluent Welsh speakers.
- 10,000 magazines are read in schools and in homes all over Wales every month.
Llwyddiant Eisteddfodol i Ysgol Plascrug 2011
Plascrug School Eisteddfod Success 2011
Pupils and staff travelled to Swansea on Monday 30th May 2011 to compete in the Urdd National Eisteddfod.
Congratulations to the children and staff who took part in our Action Song which was victorious for the eighth consecutive year.
Our congratulations are also extended to our ‘Ymgom’ group who received the third prize.

Cystadleuaeth Gymnasteg Cenedlaethol yr Urdd 2012
2012 Urdd National Gymnastics Competition
Congratulations to the school Gymnastics team for coming joint 1st in the Urdd National Gymnastics Competition on February 8th. A brilliant performance. Also to Alfie Dean for securing 3rd place in the boys individual competition and well done to Millie Gwynne for representing Ceredigion so well in the girls individulal competition. Da iawn pawb.
