Plascrug Admissions

The Governing Body of Plascrug School applies the regulations on admissions fairly and equally to all those who wish to attend this school. The School Standards and Framework Act 1998 introduced a new framework for school admissions as of September 2000. This policy conforms to the regulations that are set out in that Act and also further explained in the statutory School Admissions Code of Practice and the statutory Appeals Code of Practice.

The ultimate responsibility for the admission of pupils to the school rests with the Admissions Authority, which is Ceredigion Local Education Authority (LEA).

Aims and objectives

We are an inclusive school that welcomes children from all backgrounds and abilities.

All applications will be treated on merit and in a sensitive manner.

The only restriction we place on entry is that of number. If the number of children applying for entry exceeds the places available, we enforce the procedure set out below in order to determine whether a child is accepted or not. It is our wish to allow parents the right to have a place at the school of their choice. However, this is not always possible, due to the excess demand on the school places available.

The level of ability of a child or any special needs that s/he may have plays no part in the admissions policy of this school.

Admission to the Nursery Unit (3 year olds)

Our Nursery Unit can accomodate up to 52 children part-time; the maximum number at a morning or afternoon session is 26. Children can be admitted at the beginning of the term after their 3rd birthday providing that sufficient accommodation is available and that they are completely toilet trained; initially these children attend on a part-time basis.

Children may attend full-time Nursery in the term following their 4th birthday.

Transfer from the Nursery Unit to Reception Classes

Children move to Reception Classes in the September following their 4th birthday. At this point of transfer, parents need to request admission to the mainstream school from the LEA once again; the LEA will again apply the same admissions criteria.

In practice, where parents wish their children to continue their education at Plascrug, there would not be a problem. However, it must be stated that pupils already attending the Nursery Unit are not guaranteed a place in our Reception class.

Cyflwynodd Ddeddf Safonau a Fframwaith Ysgolion 1998 fframwaith newydd ar gyfer derbyniadau ysgolion o fis Medi 2000. Mae'r polisi hwn yn cydymffurfio â'r rheoliadau a osodir allan yn y Ddeddf honno, a hefyd yn esbonio ymhellach yn y Cod Ymarfer Derbyniadau statudol a'r Cod Ymarfer ar gyfer Apeliadau statudol.

Mae'r cyfrifoldeb yn y pen draw ar gyfer derbyn disgyblion i'r ysgol yn nwylo'r Awdurdod Derbyn, sef Awdurdod Addysg Lleol (AALl) Ceredigion.

Mynediad i'r Uned Feithrin (3 oed)

Mae lle yn ein Huned Feithrin i hyd at 52 o blant rhan-amser; y nifer mwyaf mewn sesiwn fore neu brynhawn yw 26. Gall plant gael eu derbyn ar ddechrau'r tymor ar ôl eu 3ydd pen-blwydd ar yr amod bod digon o le ar gael a'u bod yn sych; i gychwyn mae'r plant hyn yn mynychu ar sail rhan-amser.

Gall plant fynychu'r Feithrinfa llawn amser ar ddechrau'r tymor yn dilyn eu penblwydd yn 4 oed.

Trosglwyddo o'r Uned Feithrin i Ddosbarthiadau Derbyn

Mae plant yn symud i'r dosbarthiadau derbyn yn y mis Medi yn dilyn eu penblwydd yn 4 oed. Ar y pwynt trosglwyddo, mae angen i rieni wneud cais i'w derbyn i'r ysgol brif ffrwd gan yr AALl unwaith eto; bydd yr AALl yn dilyn yr un meini prawf derbyn eto.

Yn ymarferol, lle mae rhieni yn dymuno i'w plant barhau â'u haddysg ym Mhlascrug, ni fyddai problem. Fodd bynnag, rhaid nodi nad yw disgyblion eisoes yn yr Uned Feithrin yn sicr o le yn ein dosbarth Derbyn.
